Craft With Friends

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about Night Owl Craft Retreat? Learn what to bring, how to book, and what to expect for your overnight craft retreat or day crop.

How Many People Can the Retreat Hold?

Night Owl Craft Retreat accommodates groups of up to 8 adult crafters. When you book a group retreat, you’ll have the entire retreat space reserved just for your group.

What if I Don’t Have a Group to Book With?

Our Day Crops are open to individuals and are a great way to craft, relax, and meet other like-minded crafters. Many guests meet friends at day crops and later form groups for overnight retreats.
You could also connect with other Michigan crafters in Facebook groups, for example, where groups often look for individuals to join them — and individuals post when they’re looking for a group.

What If I Don’t Have a Full Group of 8?

No problem! You don’t technically need 8 guests to rent the retreat. The group cost is the same whether you have 1 or 8 people, so if your group is smaller, you can simply divide the cost among fewer guests. Groups of 5–7 are very common—each person pays a little more and you’ll enjoy extra room to spread out.

What Do I Need to Bring?

Guests bring their own crafting supplies, personal items, and food/drinks. To help you prepare, we’ve created a Craft Retreat Packing List with everything you’ll need.

Are Meals Included?

Meals are not provided. Guests bring their own food, but the kitchenette makes it easy to prepare simple meals. There are also plenty of nearby restaurants, pizza places, and grocery stores within 3–5 miles. See our Dining & Grocery Guide for recommendations.

Are Their Any Stairs to Climb?

There are no stairs and the building is on one level. Night Owl Craft Retreat is barrier-free and ADA-compliant. With wide doorways, flat flooring, and an accessible bathroom and bedroom, all crafters can enjoy their stay comfortably.

Are There Any Bunk Beds?

No. Each guest has an individual twin bed with a comfortable mattress and soft sheets.

What Are the Check-In and Check-Out Times?

Currently we’re offering Thursday for FREE, so check-in begins on Thursday at 4 PM and check-out is Sunday at 2 PM.

Are There Any Rules We Should Know About?

Yes. We ask guests to follow a few simple rules to keep the retreat safe and enjoyable for everyone. View the rules here.

Do You Have Any TV’s?

No, we do not have televisions at the retreat. Many guests enjoy chatting with friends or bring an iPad or tablet to stream videos or music while crafting.

Where Can We Eat Meals?

You’re welcome to eat at your crafting tables if that’s most convenient, but there are a few other options as well. The lounge area has a small table with 4 chairs, and we provide TV trays if you’d like to eat at the couch. There are also extra chairs and a folding table in the closet that can be set up to create additional seating for 4.

Why Don’t You Have a Stove or Cooktop?

A stove didn’t make it into the layout of our kitchenette—and honestly, we prefer to keep the focus on crafting with friends, not cooking all weekend. The kitchenette is designed for light meal prep and includes a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, crock pot and toaster oven. Plus, with plenty of great restaurants, pizza places, and grocery stores just a few miles away, it’s easy to grab takeout or dine out when you need a break from crafting.

Is Your Retreat in a Safe Area?

Yes! Night Owl Craft Retreat is located in Burton, Michigan—just across the road from Davison and in the Davison School District. We’re only minutes from restaurants, stores, and the highway, yet the retreat sits in a quiet neighborhood setting with mostly residential neighbors and a dance studio across the street. Guests often tell us they feel comfortable arriving, unloading, and staying here, which is exactly what we want—a welcoming and secure place for your crafty getaway.

How Do I Book a Retreat For My Group?

Booking is simple! First, find an available date on our calendar. Then, submit an inquiry form on the booking page with your preferred dates. We’ll confirm availability, answer any questions, and then send you the rental agreement along with instructions for the deposit. Once the deposit and signed agreement are received, your dates are officially reserved for your group.
