Helpful Tips for Your Stay at Night Owl Craft Retreat

September 4, 2025

We’re so excited to welcome you to Night Owl Craft Retreat! To help you get the most out of your stay, we’ve gathered some helpful tips and insider details. These tips will make your retreat smoother and more enjoyable.

Before You Arrive

  • Review our House Rules.
  • Start planning and packing your personal items, crafting projects and supplies. Check out our Packing List for ideas.
  • Plan your meals. A little food planning goes a long way. Some groups plan every meal, while others keep it casual—do what works best for you. Meals can be prepped ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator, then warmed in the microwave or crock pot.
  • Consider our local food options. See our Dining & Grocery Guide for nearby restaurants, pizza places, and grocery stores that are minutes from the retreat.
  • Easy tip: Bring simple breakfasts, lunches, and snacks with you (or pick them up at a grocery store on the way), then order in or go out for dinner.

When You Arrive

  • Key & entry. The lockbox is to the right of the front door. Your group leader will receive the code a few days before your stay. The entry light switch is on your right as you come in the door.
  • Please note, Michelle’s craft studio and office is located on the back side of the building, completely separated from the craft retreat and with our own entrance. We may be there working for a bit during the week so don’t be alarmed if you see one or two more cars in the back of the parking lot.
  • Unloading. A wagon is available in the front closet to help bring in supplies.
  • Wi-Fi. Login details are posted on the refrigerator.
  • Climate & comfort. The thermostat is located in the crafting area and is easy to adjust.

Making the Most of the Space

  • Dining space. The table in the lounge area can be expanded, and there are two extra chairs in the bedrooms. A folding table with chairs and TV trays are also stored in the front closet, giving you plenty of options for extra seating if you’d prefer not to eat at your crafting tables.
  • Privacy at night. A curtain and rod are available in the front closet if you’d like to cover the glass on the front door.
  • Extras. You will find some extra toilet paper, garbage bags, cleaning wipes and paper towel in a bin in the front closet. You will also find a bin with extension cords as well.
  • Towels. A basket with a bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth will be on each bed. Hooks are located behind the big bathroom door for towels.
  • Bedrooms. Closets are stocked with a sound machine, box fan, and extra blankets for your comfort.
  • Storage. There is plenty of room to store personal items in the bedroom closets or under the beds. Your towel basket can also be stored in either of these places if needed.
  • Trash. If one of the main trash cans fills up just tie it up and place it outside the front door in the rocks. There should be an extra trash bag at the bottom of the trash bin.

Safety Information

  • There is a small first aid kit in the small bathroom’s cabinet.
  • Fire extinguishers are located in the kitchenette and near the front door.
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are installed in each bedroom and in the main crafting area.
  • For safety, please keep the main 8 crafting tables in place—this ensures clear walkways and keeps the electrical setup underneath safe.
  • In case of emergency, call 911.
  • Exit through the front door or a bedroom window in an emergency situation (note: windows should only be opened in emergencies, as they do not close easily).

Before You Leave

  • Make sure to sign the guestbook! It is by the couch in the lounge area.
  • Send us any pictures that we can post on our picture board and on our Facebook Page of your stay!
  • Complete the Checkout Checklist to make departure simple and smooth.
  • Talk with your group about planning your next retreat—many groups rebook for a few months later or the same weekend each year to make it a tradition!

Enjoy Your Time Crafting With Friends

We hope these tips help you enjoy a stress-free, creative, and memorable retreat. If you have questions at any time, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to make your stay as comfortable and fun as possible.
